Many people want a PROFESSIONAL camera off the bat. But let me tell you this, if you are simply a hobbyist and aren't really thinking of opening your business as a professional photographer, you don't need a professional camera.

What is the difference between a professional camera and an amateur camera?

The main difference will be in its cost. A professional camera will cost three or more times more than an amateur camera. 

A professional camera is aimed at delivering high quality images in difficult lighting situations. Amateur cameras don't have the ability to deliver high quality images in low light scenarios.

What is the average price range for a good amateur camera?

If you are buying a DSLR camera or a Mirrorless camera, you will always be looking at an average price between €500 and €1500. I highly recommend not to buy anything cheaper than the starting price.

What is the difference between Mirorless and DSLR cameras?

DSLR cameras have a mirror reflecting the light on to the sensor which is then recorded as a picture. Mirrorless cameras are digital without a mirror reflecting the ligth. With Mirorrless cameras you can usually see the result closest to the final on your camera screen.

DSLR cameras are bulkier, have more lenses and are more complex.

Mirorrless cameras are lighter with not so many lenses to choose from.

Both cameras have now achieved a similar image quality and it's up to you to choose which one to go with. A Mirrorless camera would be good for an everyday use, as it's lighter and less bulkier.

What accessories will you need for the camera?

When you buy your first camera and it starts at, lets say €600, you will have to think about accessories. 

It means that you will have to buy a lens along with the camera costing you an additional €150. 

I would stay away from the 'kit' lenses. Kit lenses are usually the simplest, low quality lenses that shops offer to buy with your camera straight away.

Plus you will need memory cards adding another extra of at least €100. (that is only if you are using CF cards, they are the  most expensive memory cards) 

Don't forget about the bag + €50 (you can buy it online, it may be considerably cheaper)

So all in all you are already looking at an investment that is worth around €900.
